WISHART TO SEEK NOMINATION IN NEW PERTH AND KINROSS-SHIRE SEAT

Pete Wishart MP has today, [Tuesday], confirmed that he will be putting his name forward to seek the SNP nomination for the new Westminster constituency of Perth and Kinross shire. The new county constituency includes almost 60% of Pete Wishart’s Perth and North Perthshire seat, including the whole of the city of Perth. The rest of the seat is currently in the Ochil and South Perthshire constituency.

Commenting on the matter, Mr Wishart said.

“I am delighted to announce that I will be seeking the SNP nomination for the new Perth and Kinross-shire constituency and am looking forward to contesting what will be my 7th election in Perthshire. Whilst I am disappointed to be losing areas of Perthshire that I have represented for 22 years, I look forward to the challenge of contesting these fantastic new areas of South Perthshire and Kinross-shire.

“This will be an extremely important election and, after 13 years it will be an opportunity to rid us of this failing Conservative government and the chaos and misery that they have inflicted on every community in Perth and Kinross.

“This new constituency will again be a straight fight between the SNP and the Conservative candidate and, if I am successful with my nomination, I look forward to getting out and about to meet the people of the new constituency.”
