Wishart hails local benefits of Stone of Destiny’s increased profile ahead of coronation

Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, has welcomed the benefits that will come to Perthshire following the Stone of Destiny’s key role in the forthcoming King’s coronation, which will take place later this week on Saturday 06 May.

Commenting, Mr Wishart said:

“Kings and queens have been crowned on the Stone of Destiny for centuries and this legacy will be built upon when it is used to crown King Charles this weekend.

“The stone’s prominent role in the coronation will undoubtedly pique the interest of both a domestic and global audience. This will be a massive boost to Perthshire when it returns here as the centrepiece of our new, state-of-the-art Perth Museum.

“Following the coronation, people will naturally be wanting to pay a visit to Perth to find out more about the stone’s tremendous history. The benefits this will bring to the local economy cannot be understated, making Perth one of Scotland’s key visitor destinations.
