Wishart tables EDM to congratulate Aberfeldy charity on award shortlist

Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) to congratulate Aberfeldy charity, Feldy-Roo, on being shortlisted for the Community Action category in the upcoming Scottish Charity Awards.

Feldy-Roo is an initiative founded by Gavin Price at the start of the pandemic to feed elderly and isolating people by preparing and delivering meals seven days a week.

The awards on 15 June, hosted by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), celebrates the achievements of the most innovative and effective charity organisations in Scotland.

Commenting, Mr Wishart said:

“I am delighted to hear that Feldy-Roo have been nominated as a finalist for the Community Action award at the SCAs.

“This category commemorates community groups who make a big difference to a small community, and Feldy-Roo fits that description perfectly.

“Throughout the pandemic and all its lockdowns, Gavin Price and the Feldy-Roo team worked tirelessly to ensure that vulnerable and elderly people across Perth and North Perthshire were not going hungry.

“Now, as households start to feel the bite of the cost of living crisis, they are continuing to protect communities with their invaluable service.”

Voting closes for the awards on Friday 20 May at 5pm, and the ceremony will be held at the Crown Plaza in Glasgow on Wednesday 15 June.
