WISHART WELCOMES EXTRA SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR CHARITY HELPING FAMILIES WITH DISABLED AND SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN
Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, has welcomed additional funding from the Scottish Government to Family Fund, and is urging eligible families to apply to their grant scheme. This comes after the charity recently received an additional £377,000 from the Scottish Government, which is part of a £4 million package to provide support for unpaid carers.
Family Fund is a charity that provides grants to families raising a disabled or seriously ill young person for essential items such as clothing, computer equipment, family breaks, domestic appliances or sensory toys and play equipment.
Commenting, Mr Wishart said:
“I welcome this additional funding from the Scottish Government which will allow Family Fund to expand their grant scheme for families raising a disabled or severely ill child, and I urge those eligible to apply as soon as possible.
“This extra money will prove absolutely crucial for families across Scotland, many of whom are struggling to keep warm and nourished in the face of rapidly rising living costs.
“This is another example of the Scottish Government delivering on their commitment to helping unpaid carers, who do absolutely crucial and oftentimes thankless work. This extra funding is particularly timely given the added pressures that many unpaid carers have faced during the pandemic.”
