WISHART WELCOMES PERTH HAPPINESS RANKING
Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, has welcomed news that Perth has been ranked by Rightmove as the second happiest place to live in Scotland, and 11th in the UK.
It is the second year in a row that Perth has placed near the top of the list.
Commenting, Mr Wishart said:
"I am delighted to hear that, for a second year running, Perth has ranked among the country's happiest places to live, coming in second in Scotland and 11th in the UK.
Perth is a fantastic city to live, learn and work, boasting rich history, a thriving city centre, excellent transport links and surrounded by beautiful scenery.
The people of Perth have shown extraordinary resilience and morality throughout the many challenges that the pandemic has presented, and this is a testament to the strong community spirit here.
Last year, it was announced that the Stone of Destiny will return to Perth after some 700 years. It will feature as the centrepiece of the world-class, £26.5m City Hall Museum, which is scheduled to open in 2024.
As one of Scotland's most iconic historical artefacts, the stone will play an important role in the regeneration of Perth, bringing in more visitors and boosting the city's status.
I will continue to work with communities in Perth to protect residents' wellbeing and ensure that it remains a desirable place to live for the generations to come."
