Perth and North Perthshire MP, Pete Wishart, will tomorrow (Wednesday 12th June 2019) quiz Post Office bosses at a hearing of the Westminster Committee which he chairs.
Tracy Marshall, Network Development Director for Post Office will appear before the Scottish Affairs Committee on Wednesday 12th June as part of their inquiry on access to financial services.
Mr Wishart is keen to press Post Office on their commitment to Perthshire following a number of local branch closures and issues, including closure in Scone and long queues at the main branch in the Fair City.
Speaking ahead of the committee meeting, Mr Wishart said:
“I am keen to speak to Post Office bosses about the number of issues at branches across Perthshire. At a time when many banks are cutting down branch numbers, Post Office are having to take up some of the slack. This isn’t always possible though, especially in a place like Scone where we have seen the last access to banking services stop with the closure of the Post Office.
“A town the size of Scone not having access to a Post Office branch is completely unacceptable and I will be raising this with Post Offices bosses when they come before the committee.”
