Perth and North Perthshire MP, Pete Wishart has welcomed the news that Perth and Kinross Council are to convert Perth City Hall into a major arts and cultural hub.
Perth and Kinross Council have confirmed that they are seeking an architect to convert the building into a new cultural space which will house the Perth and Kinross collections and will play host to major touring exhibitions.
Speaking after the announcement, Mr Wishart said:
“I am thrilled to hear that Perth and Kinross Council have ambitious plans for the City Hall. It has been the subject of some debate over the years but I am pleased to see these ambitious plans for a major cultural attraction.
‘Alongside the £10m transformation of Perth Museum and Art Gallery, this project is a really exciting development for the Fair City. A major cultural attraction such as this will be a real draw for visitors from all over Scotland and beyond.”
