WISHART TO HOST EU INFO EVENING

Mr Pete WISHART MP, Member if Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, is issuing an invitation to EU nationals living in Perthshire to attend an information meetings my he is hosting in Perth on Friday 21 October.

Speaking ahead of the event Mr WISHART said:

"As the complete lack of clarity from the UK Government about Brexit continues, I have arranged an information meeting in Perth to which I am inviting a group of my constituents who will be particularly affected and for whom the uncertainty and insecurity is very keenly felt.

"I have been absolutely inundated with concerns from constituents who are citizens of other EU countries and who are understandably baffled by the conflicting statements coming from the UK Government.

"From the outset I want it to be very clear that as far as I am concerned they are wanted, needed and valued members of this community and I am pleased that Scotland's First Minister has gone to the lengths she has to make sure that - in Scotland, at least - that message is coming through loud and clear from the very top.

"Here in Perthshire we have a particularly treasured connection with the Polish community, whether they are families who have been here since the Second World War or more recent arrivals.

"I want to make sure that, at this confusing and concerning time, I can help in answering questions and providing information as best I can and so I have arranged a meeting to be held next month where I will be joined by Stephen Gethins MP the SNP Spokesperson on Europe. We will be available to listen to the concerns of Perthshire's EU nationals and, where we can, answer questions and put minds at rest.

"I am issuing an open invitation and I hope that we will see a good turnout on the night."

The event will take place at the Lovat Hotel, Perth on Friday 21st October at 7:30pm .
