The Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, Pete Wishart MP, is highlighting to local schools information he has received from the Head of Education at the Houses of Parliament indicating that places are now available for school visits to Parliament, between September and December 2016.
Mr Wishart said:
“I have received notification from the Head of Education at the Houses of Parliament that places are now available for school visits to Parliament, between September and December 2016.
“The Houses of Parliament really are very interesting indeed, not just for those with an interest in current affairs but art, design, history and other disciplines too. Indeed, many might say that they are better suited to being a museum than a modern legislature!
“Either as an educational destination in their own right, or as part of a wider visit to London, the Palace of Westminster certainly provides an interesting and informative experience.
“Visits are free of charge for all schools and are open to students aged 5 to 18. Schools from Perth & North Perthshire whose visits meet the criteria can even apply for a Transport Subsidy for 75% of their travel costs.
“The organised visits consist of a tour of Parliament and a workshop in the new Parliamentary Education Centre and whenever a group from my constituency is visiting I will do my best to be able to meet with them.”
To book a place, schools need to call the Education Service directly on 020 7219 4496. Schools can find out more information by contacting the Education Service on 020 7219 4496, emailing [email protected] or via the website: www.parliament.uk/education
