Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, is asking constituents to make suggestions for nominees to be put forward for a Pub Chef of the Year Award being organised by the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group.
Speaking today (Wednesday) Mr Wishart said:
“There are All Party Parliamentary Groups representing all sorts of industries and interests and the Beer Group is about a bit more than just enjoying a pint. Local pubs are important parts of a local community and pubs that provide good food are a great draw for visitors as well as locals so I am pleased to be able to help publicise this new competition they are running to find the Pub Chef of the Year.
“Pubs across the UK now serve almost one billion meals each year and, while anyone can stick a plate of pie and beans in the microwave, there are some really exceptional chefs working in our pubs and this competition is deigned to recognise and reward the work they do as well as to highlight the benefits that a good chef can bring to a pub and to a community.
“I know that we have some fantastic pub grub on offer right across Perth & North Perthshire and I am seeking my constituents’ help in identifying those pub chefs who merit special recognition.
“I need to submit nominations by Friday the 13th of November so suggestions will have to be with me before then. All the entries will then be judged by an expert panel and the winner will be announced in the New Year.”
