Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has welcomed the announcement that the Giraffe Trading Community Interest Company in his constituency have been announced as winners of up to £5,000 funding from the Aviva Community Fund.
Over 300 projects across the UK receive funding from the Aviva Community Fund, to continue to help them make a difference. More than 3,300 projects entered, receiving 4.1 million votes from the public in total. The projects with the most votes were then submitted to a panel of independent judges, and the winners selected.
Mr Wishart said:
“I am delighted to learn of the Giraffe Trading’s success in securing funding from the Aviva Community Fund. A big well done to everyone who has worked hard in securing this funding.
“Giraffe-Trading is Perth and Kinross’s first community interest company dedicated to offering employment activities to local people with mental ill-health, disabilities and other disadvantages in the workplace.
“They also offer a really rewarding volunteering experience for anyone with time and skills to offer.
“It is also great to see an organisation from Perth benefiting from Aviva’s Community Fund, given the important role that Aviva plays within our community as a major employer.”
