Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has highlighted the call for nominations for the Scottish Tree of the Year. The search for the nation’s best loved tree is organised by the Woodland Trust Scotland and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Mr Wishart said:
“The competition is open to any living tree in Scotland, and anybody can enter. The organisers are looking for individuals or groups to nominate trees that have an amazing story to tell.
“My constituency has had great success in the past with Lady’s Tree at Loch of the Lowes and Niel Gow’s Oak at Dunkeld, having been granted the title in 2013 and 2014 and it would be great if we could make it three years in a row.
“After the nomination process, which can be done through the website, an independent panel of judges will shortlist six trees with a public online vote deciding the winner.
“Entries are open until Sunday 12 July so time is running short.”
