Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire has given a warm welcome to the Scottish Government announcement today that a landmark £30 million development is to be built within Perth city centre.
Mr Wishart said:
"The Mill Quarter development, as it has been called, will bring zest and vibrancy to an area which has until now been under-utilised with the Thimblerow car park being transformed into a complex including restaurants and bars, speciality shops, housing, and a multi storey car park.
"It is anticipated that this development will bring more than 150 jobs and over 350 construction and supply jobs to Perth and, once completed, will attract over 300,000 visitors every year, sustaining future long term jobs.
"Congratulations to Perth and Kinross Council for their work in securing this investment alongside the Scottish Cities Alliance, the partnership organisation coordinating close working between Scotland’s seven cities and the Scottish Government.
"I hope that those gloom-mongers who have talked the city down and cast doubt on the benefits that city status has brought to Perth will now eat a big slice of humble pie.
"I am looking forward to seeing these plans come into being and providing another contribution to what the Fair City has to offer as a fantastic place to live and a great place to do business."
