Commenting on the announcement today (Wednesday) that Perth-based SSE are looking to cut around 500 jobs across Britain while also introducing a freeze on the price of household energy costs until January 2016 , the Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, said:
“Today’s announcements from SSE represent good news for the consumer but not so much for their employees.
“As the MP representing the constituency in which SSE is based I am very concerned about their plans to shed 500 jobs across Britain.
“I want to get more detail from SSE as to where these jobs are being lost and while it will be some comfort to staff that they are not talking at this stage about compulsory redundancies, I want to be sure that my constituency are not taking a disproportionate hit in terms of the number of jobs that are to go.”
