SOUTH STREET POST OFFICE CLOSES DOORS

"END OF AN ERA" SAYS WISHART

The Scottish National Party's Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has expressed his sadness at what he described as "the end of an era" as the Crown Post Office on Perth's South street closes its doors today [Wednesday].  Mr Wishart said:

"Today sees the end of an era as the Crown Post Office on South Street, closes its doors for the last time following a decision which I - and many others in Perth - opposed and still feel was the wrong thing to do and was commercially driven rather than service led.

"We have been given all sorts of assurances about the move to WH Smith on the High Street and I hope that time and experience does not prove those assurances to have been hollow promises."
