WISHART WELCOMES COUNCIL DECISION ON CITY HALLS

The Scottish National Party's Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has welcomed today's decision by Perth and Kinross Council to reapply for leave to demolish Perth City Halls. Mr Wishart said:

"I am pleased that the Council have taken this decision and it is telling that the decision was a unanimous one. It was quite clear that the business case for the only alternative plan on offer simply does not stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever.

"I completely understand the emotional attachment that some people in Perth feel towards the City Halls but it is a building whose best years are well behind it. This saga has dragged on far too long now, we need to embrace the future and move forward so that this important space in Perth's City Centre can be put to effective use."
