The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire has highlighted the success of two groups in his constituency in securing funding from Big Lottery Fund’s 2014 Communities programme.
Breadalbane Cricket Club have received £1000 towards new equipment and Perth Academy have secured £1450 for hockey equipment and coaching sessions.
Mr Wishart said:
“It is great to see local schools and sports clubs continuing to benefit from 2014 Communities which is a micro grants programme, offering grants of between £300 and £2,000 to support and stimulate grass roots involvement in sport and physical activity.
“The legacy of the 2014 Commonwealth Games really is being built from the bottom up and shared throughout the country which is a really good thing.
“Whether it is to spot and nurture budding champions, encourage more healthy living or supporting wider access to leisure, investing in sport brings real benefits to the whole of society and I wish the cricketers of Breadalbane and the young hockey players of Perth Academy every success for the future.”
