WISHART HIGHLIGHTS CHANCE FOR LOCAL CREATIVES TO GET INVOLVED IN 2014 CULTURAL PROGRAMME

Published date : 28 January, 2013

The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, has highlighted an exciting opportunity for local individual artists, community-led groups and arts organisations to participate in the cultural events associated with the 2014 Commonwealth Games and apply for awards ranging from £20,000-£300,000.  Projects can feature in either or both the Scotland-wide programme Culture 2014 – which will focus on the countdown to the Games before the focus subsequently turns to other major events, such as the Ryder Cup and the Edinburgh Festivals – and Festival 2014, which will transform Glasgow during Games-time.

Mr Wishart said:

“This is a great opportunity for artists and performers, groups and individuals from right across Scotland, including here in Perthshire, to get involved in the cultural programme celebrating what is shaping up to be an absolutely astounding year for Scotland.

“Although focussed on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow the programme also encompasses the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles which lends a particular local interest to this whole endeavour.

“Anyone interested in finding out more about the Cultural Programme and other opportunities, along with full guidelines on how to apply should check out the information on the Creative Scotland website and note that applications need to be in by Friday, 22 February.
