The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, took part in a photocall of Scottish MPs to help publicise the call for volunteers for the 2014 Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow.
Mr Wishart said:
“The 214 Games are being hosted in Glasgow but there are opportunities for everyone in Scotland to be involved and becoming a Games Volunteer is a fantastic opportunity to ‘Be the Games’ - on the inside, making it happen.
“This is a major international event and the chance to be a volunteer give folk the opportunity to help promote Scotland and to create a fantastic experience for the competitors and spectators as well as to make friendships with people from all over the world, gain invaluable skills and experience and give something back to the community.
“The 2014 Commonwealth Games needs up to 15,000 volunteers – the biggest peace-time deployment of volunteers for a common cause Scotland has ever seen – these volunteers are essential to the success of the Games. They will be the friendly face of the Games friendly, helpful people from all over the country are needed to make Scotland’s Games an amazing experience for all.
“As well as general volunteers, they are looking for volunteers with a range of specialist skills including medical staff, drivers and people with specific sports expertise."
