LOCAL POLITICIANS WISH PERTHSHIRE COMMUNITIES SUCCESS AS BRITAIN IN BLOOM FINALISTS NAMED

The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire, and Mr John Swinney MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire North have welcomed the news that the towns of Coupar Angus and Blairgowrie & Rattray have been selected from thousands of entrants to take part in the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom UK Finals 2013.

There are 80 finalists in total with Blairgowrie & Rattray entered in the Town category and Coupar Angus in the Large Village category.

Mr Wishart said:

“Congratulations to all the volunteers from Blairgowrie & Rattray and Coupar Angus for their success in being nominated for the finals and I wish them the very best of luck for when the judges arrive in the summer.

“Perthshire towns and villages have a proud record of achievement in ‘In Bloom’ competitions and I am delighted that communities from my constituency will once again be flying the flag as Scottish nominees.”

Mr Swinney added:

“This is great news and I am very hopeful for the prospects for our local East Perthshire entrants in this prestigious completion which is a great source of local pride.

“On the basis of past performances and the commitment and talent of the local volunteers there is every reason to be confident in the results later in the year.”
