The Scottish National Party’s Mr Pete Wishart MP, Member of Parliament for Perth & North Perthshire viewed the view the exhibition of proposals for dualling the A9 which were on display at the Dewar’s Centre, Perth, on Friday.
Welcoming this further step towards completion of the full dualling of the A9 between Perth and Inverness, Mr Wishart said:
“It was really interesting to see the plans and proposals that were on display and I was pleased to see the exhibition so busy when I was there.
“It is extremely encouraging to know that this means we are firmly on course to seeing the A9 upgraded to dual carriageway all the way from Perth to Inverness, something that many of us have been campaigning for over a very large number of years.
“The exhibitions that are being held in various communities along the length of the A9 are important because it is essential not only that we get this job done but that we get it done right and full and accessible public consultation is a key part of that.
“The SNP Government in Edinburgh has really stepped up to the plate in terms of meeting the manifesto commitments we made and indeed accelerating the timetable whenever the opportunity arose.
“I have to confess to getting irritated at the sniping from the sidelines that we hear from some politicians who seem to think that a major road project like this can happen overnight but forget that they represent parties who conspicuously failed to rise to the challenge of making this much needed investment.”
